Falcons Preschool Awards

Alongside British Gymnastics Badge Scheme we have designed our own Badge Scheme for preschool gymnasts in Happy Hoppers and Freddies. These badges focus on five main areas; Agility, Flexibility, Coordination, Balance and Rebound. There are 2 levels on each category, firstly Froglings followed by Frogs.

Gymnasts who are already on British Gymnastics Badges have the choice to work on the new preschool awards alongside their current ones or once completed to work on the Falcons Recreational Awards. Please speak to a coach during your session to advise what scheme you would like to do, if you are already on the BG badges. Once gymnasts have achieved 8/10 moves on any badge level their coach will pass that level using our sheep system from the tablets and an email will be sent directly out to your email address on how to purchase the badge and certificate. They will then be able to move up to the next level. Once the gymnast has completed all the preschool awards they will then work towards the Falcons Recreational Awards.

The medal and certificate can be purchased from our shop. (Please note; do not buy an award before your gymnast has earned it in their class and you have received an email)

Gymnastics Assessment

When gymnasts’ first start they will be continually assessed in their circuits by the coaches on the tablets/laptops, they will then be passed on badges where they have achieved the skill more than three times. It is of great importance to note that children develop skills at different speeds and therefore may be faster or slower at gaining their awards to other gymnasts in the group.
Furthermore children may be better on certain areas than others and therefore may be higher or lower on an area. For example; a gymnast may pass Froglings and Frog Flexibility very fast but might struggle and take more time to pass other areas like Froglings Balance. Every gymnast will have a strength and a weakness. However with practice, continued effort and attendance they will soon progress and achieve!
Please if you see other members of your gymnast’s class go home with an award but not yours, talk to the coach or email admin first to discuss what they need to progress in order not to upset your child. Gymnasts all work very hard and try their best but sometimes may struggle with certain moves. Our coaches are focused on awarding the badges but only when the gymnast is ready.  Coaches are acutely aware when a child has not managed a skill how upset they can be and will provide physical preparation exercises to help towards the skill. As our coaches do, please support your child with positive praise and a “practice makes perfect” approach.
